FAQ

  • To best support your progress, I require that we meet weekly or bi-weekly. This consistent schedule keeps you accountable and fosters the momentum needed for successful recovery.

  • My coaching approach is hands-on, focusing on behavior and cognitive changes in the present moment. We target changing thoughts and behaviors while acknowledging that coaches primarily focus on behavior modification, response prevention, exposure, and support. CCI coaches understand the psychological, cultural, and relational risk factors that contribute to eating disorders. We acknowledge the complexity of treatment and the need for a comprehensive team, leaving the "why" to other professionals.

Coaches provide a supportive and persistent focus on helping clients experience, tolerate, and share their feelings during individual, group meetings, outings, and without resorting to eating disorder behaviors.

Coaches are trained and available to accompany and assist clients in daily situations like grocery shopping, restaurant meals, cooking at home, or clothes shopping. We may even be hired to accompany clients to social events, business trips, or vacations. Additional support is available between sessions via text or phone. These are all areas where therapists, doctors, or other licensed professionals may face limitations.

Clients with eating disorders have reported that working with someone in recovery has been a significant factor in their own recovery. Recovered coaches, like myself, can share tips and strategies that helped us achieve our own recovery goals.

The beauty of coaching is that we can "show," not just tell, clients what it's like to enjoy life. Clients have the opportunity to see what's possible and believe they can recover too.

  • To best support your recovery, I require clients to have at least a therapist in place. Working collaboratively with the entire treatment team is a cornerstone of my practice. Therapists can provide crucial care that falls outside my scope of practice, but is essential for healing. When needed we'll also discuss if additional team members would be beneficial to your journey.

  • I'm dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable coaching environment for all genders, ages 16+, and LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.

Recovering from an eating disorder is a personal journey, and ambivalence is completely understandable. However, to ensure everyone's safety and progress, I require clients to be medically stable and committed to working within a safe environment.

During our consultation call, we'll discuss your recovery journey and determine if coaching is the right fit for you at this time.
